Artist Julia Chandler Lawing synchronizes color and brushstroke to capture the essence of a moment and evoke emotion. Her oil paintings have been called “extravagantly beautiful, spiritual and inspiring.” Julia’s years growing up on St. Simons Island instilled in her a deep appreciation for nature, light, and the wetlands.

Her work is included in private and corporate collections across the U.S. including Towne Bank and Georgia State University’s College of Law. Her paintings have appeared on ArtPop billboards, commercial window clings, and sheet metal in a historic downtown.

Julia lives in Concord, NC, with her husband Bruce and four daughters. They seize every opportunity to return to the coast, whether Fripp Island, coastal Georgia, or Rhode Island (where Bruce grew up). Julia draws and paints in her studio at ClearWater Arts Center in Concord’s Gibson Village, and is constantly inspired by life, landscapes and faith.
